ServisFirst Bank Charleston Announces New Board of Directors

Five Charleston-Area Leaders Selected to Join Board of Directors for Bank’s Greater Charleston Region

ServisFirst Bank, a subsidiary of ServisFirst Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: SFBS), recently announced the formation of a new Board of Directors for their Greater Charleston Market. ServisFirst Bank welcomes Peter McKellar, Owner of Harbor Contracting, LLC; Chris Mettler, Founder of Iron Horse Holdings; Weesie Newton, Owner of Newton Holdings; Skip Sawin, Owner and Operator of Charleston’s Rigging and Marine; and Daniel Vallini, Partner at Harvey & Vallini, LLC.

Peter A. McKellar, IV, LEED AP, Owner of Harbor Contracting, LLC

Peter A. McKellar, IV is the owner of Harbor Contracting, LLC, a commercial construction company that has served the Charleston area for over 30 years. Harbor Contracting specializes in constructing facilities for business offices, dental, healthcare, resorts, retail, educational, industrial, and government facilities. McKellar began working for Harbor Contracting as an estimator 28 years ago, eventually moving up to purchasing the company in 2002.

McKellar is a native of Mt. Pleasant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Building Sciences & Management from Clemson University. McKellar is very active in the community and various organizations. He served as the past president for the Charitable Society of Charleston and the Charleston Contractors Association. He is also an active member of the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club and Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. McKellar, his wife Teresa and their children live in Mount Pleasant.

Chris Mettler, Founder of Iron Horse Holdings

Chris Mettler is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and holds an MBA in Business Strategy from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. While attending business school, Mettler created CompareCards.com to help consumers make sense of the ever-expanding landscape of credit card offers. Mettler sold Compare Cards to Lending Tree in late 2016 and is now responsible for the overall credit card division of Lending Tree.

Mettler is active in the Charleston community, serving on various local nonprofit boards, including Charleston Day School. Mettler and his wife, Kate, have 4 children. They live in Charleston.

Louise W. “Weesie” Newton, Owner of Newton Holdings

Louise W. “Weesie” Newton owns and operates Newton Holdings. Newton Holdings’ most well-known asset is Fleet Landing Restaurant, one of Charleston’s most popular dining spots.

A native Charlestonian, Newton is a founder of Women Making a Difference, an endowment organization which gives grants to Charleston-based charities serving women and children.

Newton holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tulane University. She and her husband, Tradd, have 3 children. They live in Charleston.

Skip Sawin, Owner and Operator of Charleston’s Rigging and Marine

Skip Sawin is a second-generation owner and operator of Charleston’s Rigging and Marine, a manufacturer and distributor of handling equipment for marine, industrial, construction, and other commercial applications. The company has served Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina and Augusta, Georgia for more than 30 years.

A Mount Pleasant native, Sawin is a graduate of Wando High School and the College of Charleston. A supporter of the Boy Scouts and MUSC Children’s Hospital Fishing for Miracles, Sawin in an active member of the Charleston area’s Maritime community. He and his wife, Lauriel, have 2 sons. They live in Mount Pleasant.

Daniel Vallini, Partner at Harvey & Vallini, LLC

Daniel Vallini founded Harvey & Vallini, LLC alongside Steve Harvey in 1999. The law firm has since grown to six offices from Greenville to the Midlands and the Lowcountry. The firm represents businesses, builders, developers, real estate agencies, relocation companies, and lenders.

Vallini is a 1995 graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Spanish. He is a 1998 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. Vallini is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, Home Builders Association of Charleston, and is an Eagle Scout. Additionally, he is a past president of the Columbia Area Citadel Club, former board member of the Mortgage Lenders Association of Charleston, and the Association of Citadel Lawyers. Vallini and his wife, Sallie, have 2 children. They live in Mount Pleasant.
